For my 34th birthday, I hosted a zoom party, some people said like no other.

I absolutely love having fun with creativity and technology and this is certainly an attest to that.

I stood up many late nights with my compadre, Alex (aka VJ Bambeesh), trying to figure out how to make a fun and engaging zoom party. I think we pulled it off!

We were able to screen share an OBS output into the Zoom room so people can see my webcam, my boy David (aka Veecio), my branding, my messages, and my visuals that I was mixing live via VDMX. Alex has a similar setup so we were able to switch up relatively smoothly. Below are a couple of screenshots of our setup during our brainstorming.

I always thought streaming was very one-way, with chat features being the only way to engage.

I crave human interaction, and so I felt that it was necessary to make sure that people in my zoom party can hear and see each other while providing entertainment.

The best part is that I had a special guest appearance: my wife and I announced that we're having a baby!

We didn't let COVID-19 mess up this wonderful news. We're incredibly thrilled to share the news. I feel blessed and grateful for it all!

I also announced a GoFundMe campaign for my small business. They are matching it, so if you can, please consider donating $10 towards it.

If you follow me on Instagram, you'll know that my business took a hit with this coronavirus catastrophe. My team of 9 shrank down to just me, Kevin (my sales/marketing rep), and Anton (my intern), with me being the only creative. It's certainly been a roller coaster ride and stressful AF. I had to pause many clients and rethink my whole business.

My uncle passed away due to COVID in Ecuador and my abuelito passed away of old age all within 2 weeks of each other. What really sucks is that we can't be physically near each other and have proper ceremonies. My mom was very sad, but then I told her about my wife being pregnant and she certainly shifted emotions. And then my nephew and his girl gave birth to their first son! Talk about ups and downs!

All in all, it was an incredible birthday. I got to see my friends and family and have fun. Mega shout out to everybody who came through! At some point, we had 45 people in the zoom room and I felt the love from each and every one of you.

Thank you from the bottom of my little Ecuadorian heart!
