Introduction / Summary
CUNY John Jay is one of the leading Criminal Justice schools in the U.S. It’s a public university located in New York City that has been around since 1964. CUNY John Jay hosts many fundraising events to receive donations that will benefit student programs and life.
The Challenge
One of their biggest fundraisers for student success is their annual gala. This year they decided to convert their gala to a Virtual Benefit due to COVID-19.
The Solution
Team Lucin teamed up with CUNY John Jay to create a Virtual Benefit that raised funds for student success, while also honoring two important pillars of their community. The show consisted of pre-produced videos of student life, programs, students, staff, and honorees. We also created marketing materials that were used to promote the event on social media.

Cohesive Event Branding
The event branding was prominent throughout the show, from the invitations to the event gala website. We also highlighted the event sponsors with the same branding.
Event Marketing
We created social media teasers that promoted the benefit. It was a great marketing tool.
Program and Sponsor Booklet
It's important to give event sponsors love for their donations. A program and sponsors booklet is the perfect opportunity for that. The booklet is placed on the webpage that houses the live stream so viewers can have easy access to it.
Show Production
We made the live stream look like a cohesive, well branded, show with animated graphics that included:

-
Call to Action/Donate

Results
The Virtual Benefit was a huge success! John Jay’s fundraising goal of $800k was surpassed by $25k! The school received great feedback from board members, students, staff, and members of the community. Clara Wu Tsai and BNY Mellon, the honorees of the night, were very happy with the production and recognition they received.
John Jay loved our work so much that they came back to us a month later to create a virtual Alumni Reunion and a virtual Scholarship Event. To learn more about those events click the link below.
